Pimples, zits, acne, whatever you might call it is your worst enemy throughout. A single one can make or break your look. Here are some simple home remedies to get rid of the menace in no time.

1. Aspirin

Aspirin contains salicylic acid which helps in getting rid of acne by killing bacteria and drying it out. Crush 1-2 pieces of aspirin and dilute it with water or lemon juice and apply on the pimple.

Lemon juice is rich in Vitamin C which makes it an excellent astringent. It also contains anti-bacterial properties. All you need to do is apply some lemon juice directly onto a pimple and leave it for an hour and watch it subside instantaneously.

When applied externally, green tea combats pimples. It contains an antioxidant called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which reduces inflammation and sebum production. It also prevents bacterial growth. You could either apply it with a directly onto the acne or with a cotton ball. Leaving it overnight will provide you with best results.

This is a fool-proof way of getting rid of the zit. Saliva has properties which constrict the growth of a pimple and pushes it down. If you aren’t disgusted by your own saliva, this is the best remedy for you.

5. Cucumber juice

Cucumbers are rich in Vitamin A, C and E and they are popular for providing the skin with a cooling effect. Cucumber juice stops excess oil and sebum secretion and hence, doesn’t allow the pimple size to increase. Dabbing the juice with a Q-tip or a cotton ball helps in getting rid of acne.

For a pimple which is just emerging, an ice cube is a brilliant solution. It causes the oil glands to constrict and by not allowing the oil to be secreted further, it reduces the swelling. It can be applied directly onto the skin or by wrapping in a cloth. Repeat the process multiple times a day for best results.

7. Toothpaste

This might seem like a weird remedy but it is a trustworthy one. The anti-bacterial properties in toothpaste cause a pimple to dry out and finally reduce in size. One needs to apply a dab and keep it for as long as possible.
Tip: Use white paste instead of gel based toothpaste.
