Brewing storm in teacup, Reliance Jio:

Reliance Jio storms in the market with wackiest range of offers. Soon after, shares of rival groups hit a sorry low. Where Bharti Airtel was down by 6.4%, Idea was at 10%. It also sparked off quite a battle between Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communications and Mukesh Ambani’s RJio venture. As a matter of fact, there is a clear demarcation between R-ADAG Group’s telecom entity Reliance Communications and Reliance Digital. RJio SIM cards, however are only available at the later.

Why Anil and Mukesh Ambani are at odds:

This happened after their father passed away. And no prizes for guessing, it is over their sumptuous wealth. After Dhirubhai Ambani’s death in 2005, Reliance Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Refining and manufacturing went to Mukesh. Similarly, Anil took control over Electricity, Financial and Telecom services. Ever since then they were at verbal war before the media. This reflected in their respective business endeavors as well.

Foresight of Mukesh Ambani regarding Reliance Jio:

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s RJio will readily breathe life into Modi’s ‘Digital India’ dream. He believes it places India in 10th position from 155th in light of mobile broadband Internet access. And that is among 230 countries.

Seemingly, Mukesh Ambani has the cheapest data plans at his disposal. That is 1/10th of the prices offered by the incumbent telecom operators. Ambani further added, no RJio customer will ever have to pay for voice calls in any network. RJio’s network covers 18,000 cities and towns and 200,000 villages already. It hopes to cover 90% of the population until March next year. Find out below the tariff plans RJio rolled out:

Is there a re-union on the cards?

Well, the speculations are not entirely wrong. Even Chairman of Reliance Communications, Anil Ambani dropped hint at tying up with Mukesh. This will happen before the year end, he further added. Of course, both the brothers enjoy profit from this deal. As fact goes, RJio has contemplated an investment of 1 lac crore. It will start operating in 29 states soon. And in glaring physical presence it will endow 18,000 cities and 10,00000 villages exposure to cheaper broadband.

RJio did barely have fallback network Airtel brags about. However, the partnership with Reliance Communications will lead the customers into fallback network. In essence, they can use the 2G and 3G networks of RCom where RJio 4G isn’t available. On the flip side, RCom will benefit from RJio’s infrastructure. Presumably, the RJio’s towers and spectrum will be profitable for RCom after the roll out of 4G. So, RJio will greatly benefit from RCom’s and overcome major roadblocks in business.
