Diplomacy is a quintessential skill for managing healthy relationships with people around, home or office. Figuring out the other person’s thought pattern helps you become brutally diplomat; you will not land yourself in any awkward situation and not invite brouhahas. Diplomacy is such a life hack that can help you out from a thick soup. Here are some hilarious instances in the world history when Diplomacy Helped These Public Figures to escape from a catch 22 situation!

1. Sunny Leone in her interview with Chaubey

The infamous interview of Sunny Leone is a sureshot big example of how diplomacy helped these public figures. Sunny’s interview was taken by Bhupendra Chaubey and he was winging about the Porn star turned Bollywood actress! Chaubey attempted to hog his share of limelight by trying to take Sunny off guard. After a shower of sexist questions, he stooped to the level to embarrass the unflinching Sunny by even asking ‘am I being morally corrupted because I am interviewing you’? Sunny replied that if he wanted, she could leave the show at once! A set of very diplomatic yet smart retorts by the bold diva sealed the motoring mouth and eventually earned the entire nation’s respect.

2. An episode of Mr. George Bush

The 41st president of the U.S – Mr. George Bush once visited Canberra in 1992, where he showed a victory sign to the collected masses while riding past in his vehicle which sparked a controversy because it meant to Aussies what it means to raise the middle finger, to the Americans. Bush, however, in a later speech delivered at the local center of American studies set things straight by laughing it off saying he will start wearing mittens now while abroad.

3. Shahrukh Khan & Diplomacy go hand in hand

Talk about diplomacy and Shahrukh Khan’s reference immediately crosses my mind. He is wittingly diplomatic and in one such incident, when he was detained by the officials of Westchester Airport while en-route Connecticut to give a speech at Yale University, it sparked a diplomatic spat between India and U.S. SRK, however in his characteristic calm handled the situation gracefully, he said “Yes it always happens, it’s nice. Whenever I start feeling arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kick the stars out of stardom.”

4. Hrithik Vs Kangana

In the recent virtual/legal feud between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan, Kangana’s coming-out-of-the-closet yet diplomatic (skillfully avoiding the allegations against her by the media, Hrithik and Adhayan Suman) interview to Barkha Dutt proved that a head strong woman can be both at the same time wild and calm.

5. I am no less 🙂

While diplomacy helped these public figures, I am no less. Drawing one incident from my personal experience, I was called fat by my boyfriend in a twisted manner. The diplomatically ridiculous fashion compelled me to revisit my work-out days, he said ‘you ain’t as wafer thin as before but I am still attracted to you’, quite a veiled insult that, eh?

6. Mr. Right – Viswanathan Anand

In the context of appointing Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador for Rio Olympics, Viswanathan Anand said “We want everyone to get involved and participate but that should not be at the expense of sport. It’s not really for me either and or. If the things sportsperson need are addressed then there’s no conflict of involving non-sports people”.

7. Diplomat Sushma Swaraj

In a recent visit to Iran, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushama Swaraj pulled off a real diplomatic stance to wear hijab in a closed door meeting with Iranian president to appease Islamist sentiments which invited a lot of acerbic jibes from all over India but she settled the political goals all right.

So as I was saying surely diplomacy helped these public figures but apart from that what also helped them was their presence of mind and sharp wit. Do you agree?
