The United States of America – USA covers a vast expanse and many Asians are tempted to cover a lot in a little time. This is problematic because trying to cover everything leaves you struggling with fatigues and time zones. Therefore, it is best to go to selected locations. Based on most frequented places combined with the most enjoyable way of using up 14 days, this is the itinerary you could follow:

Starting with Los Angeles(2 nights):

USAHollywood! That’s right. Hollywood is our window to USA. Begin your trip here with a bit of stardom. You can follow it up a quaint lunch at Malibu. After this, you can top it up with a trip to Tijuana Mexico, or think of a day visit to San Diego zoo. This gives you the possibility of doing a lot in just 2 – 3 days.

San Fransciso (1 – 2 nights):

Golden Gate, the bridge connecting California and San Francisco is a must watch. The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937. The red-orange colour of the bridge that gives it the name, is because the visibility becomes low during the frequent fog and only bright colours can be seen. Fisherman’s Wharf is another beautiful seaside attraction here. Alcatraz island, with it’s interesting prison and aboriginal history of USA, is another abundant attraction in the list.

Las Vegas (1 to 2 nights):

Check out the strip, the all night casinos and clubs. The casinos often have names and themes that evoke all sorts of sensations in the tourist. Do give this a visit to MGM/Venetian or Bellagio even if you are not into gambling! It’s a beauty in its own regard. Also, do not miss the Grand Canyon.  The Grand Canyon is not the deepest or the longest canyon in the world but it is famous for the overwhelming size. It is intricate and colourful and people end up staying there for days. You can however, cover it with the Vegas strip.

New York (Or Chicago plus New York – 6 to 8 nights):

Manhattan is one of New York’s five boroughs and is what people most often think of when they picture New York City. Do check it out, apart from that, do consider some of these destinations and activities based on the time you have: Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, see a broadway show, consider a trip to either Niagra Falls/train to DC or Boston (day or overnight), 9/11 memorial (earlier known as Ground Zero) and  Coney Island.

If you are also thinking of Chicago, then some important destinations are the famous Sears towers,  and the magnificent mile (the section of Michigan Avenue that runs from Oaks Street to the Chicago river – an important shopping district). Apart from this, based on the time you have, you can also add the Navy Pier with it’s famous ferris wheel. Then there’s the Milennium Park with it’s ‘photobean’ and ice rink. Lastly you may consider the Chicago Water Tower, Natural History Museum and Shedd Aquarium. You can even consider a ride on the Chicago River.
